The complaints followed a recent incident in which Beck said President Barack Obama is a “racist” who has a “deep-seated hatred for white people,” The Huffington Post reported Tuesday.
ColorOfChange.org, an organization that advocates for black Americans, urged members to contact advertisers and urge them to pull ads from Beck’s highly rated TV show.
The Huffington Post report said NexisLexis-owned Lawyers.com, Procter & Gamble and Progressive Insurance have agreed not to advertise on the show.
ColorOfChange.org said it received an e-mail from John Michaels, senior communications manager
at LexisNexis, saying the company has “suspended further advertising during Mr. Beck’s program.” Progressive Insurance Media Director Linda Harris said the company’s advertising order with Fox News Channel “specifies no Glenn Beck.”
Procter & Gamble said placement of its ads on the show had been an error and said it would be corrected, the report said.
The Huffington Post also said S.C. Johnson, which makes such products as Pledge, Ziplock and Off!, said it would not run ads on the show.
