Now we know: He plans to argue that MJ did himself in.

Murray’s legal defense will hinge on the argument that the pop icon gave himself the fatal dose of Propofol, a hospital-grade anesthesia authorities say killed him.

The defense will argue how Michael Jackson was a long-time Propofol addict, and that “Michael liked to push it” via IV, to the point of going to extreme measures.

His argument will attempt to establish that Jackson’s own reckless behavior was the cause of his death, and refute that Murray covered up evidence in the case.

The doctor’s story of the Jackson death timeline is likely to play out as such:

What really happened June 25? Only Michael Jackson and Dr. Conrad Murray know for sure, and the latter has a markedly different version of events than the LAPD.

Around 10:50 a.m. on June 25, Dr. Conrad Murray gave Michael Jackson 25 mg of Propofol from a 20 ml bottle, which is only about 1/8 of the bottle.

The dose Dr. Murray administered would keep someone asleep for only 5-10 minutes, but the Propofol, along with Ativan and Versed already in MJ’s system, had a synergistic effect that put Jackson to sleep for a longer period.

For the next hour, Dr. Murray stayed in the room and was on the phone much of the time. He didn’t leave the room to make the calls because MJ liked activity in the room, regularly sleeping with the lights on and the TV blaring.

Around noon, Murray left the room for approximately two minutes to go to the bathroom. While he was gone, the defense believes Jackson suddenly woke up, frustrated he had spent nearly nine hours trying in vain to sleep.

The defense theory: MJ took the 20 ml bottle of Propofol, self-injected the remainder of it via IV and caused a massive overdose, stopping his heart.

Dr. Murray found Jackson with eyes open and pupils dilated, dropped the phone (he was speaking with girlfriend Nicole Alvarez) and performed CPR.

The physician being investigated in Michael Jackson’s death has reached an agreement in a separate child support case that will keep him out of jail.

Prosecutors sought an arrest warrant for Dr. <we use that term loosely> Conrad Murray after he failed to appear for previous hearings in the case. He is accused of owing more than $14,000 to a woman and her son.

With Murray in court Monday, his lawyer, Christopher Aaron, paid $700 cash and promised to pay $303 more as part of the deal approved by Clark County District Court Judge Gerald Hardcastle.

Aaron has said Murray has been unable to pay because he had to close his medical practice and move due to threats following Jackson’s death June 25.

Murray told investigators he administered propofol as a sleep aid, along with multiple sedatives, in the hours before Jackson died.

Following him were composers Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein with 235 million dollars, and Michael Jackson at 90 million dollars, reports The Times. Elvis Presley was fourth with 55 million dollars.

However, according to Matthew Miller, the editor of the list, Jackson is likely to be a bigger earner in years to come. “He will make tens of millions because he has lucrative publishing rights and rights to all his memorabilia,” he said.

The star was a guest judge on Australian variety TV show Hey Hey It’s Saturday and was visibly upset by the performance – in which four men with afro wigs and blacked-up faces sang and danced behind a Michael Jackson impersonator wearing white face make-up – and gave it a zero.

The 42-year-old actor and singer said: “I’m pleased with the way I handled the situation – I handled it in exactly the manner I thought was appropriate.”

Hey Hey It’s Saturday host Daryl Somers apologised to Connick Jr at the end of the live show.

The star said in response: “I just want to say, on behalf of my country, I know it was done humorously, but we’ve spent so much time trying to not make black people look like buffoons, that when we see something like that we take it really to heart.”

Speaking in Hong Kong, where he was promoting his new album Your Songs, Connick Jr said he cancelled an autograph session and interviews in Sydney after the show to let the controversy die down.

“It was very hot. It was a subject that was very, very controversial. So we just decided to take a couple of days off. I wasn’t worried about physical harm,” he said.

The single features backing vocals by Michael’s brothers, who are billed as The Jacksons. It will be played during the closing sequence of Sony Pictures’ forthcoming film “Michael Jackson’s This Is It” and appears on the 2-disc CD set “Michael Jackson’s This Is It,” which is the stand-alone companion to the motion picture. The film was shot while Jackson was rehearsing shortly before his June 25 death for a planned series of comeback concerts in London that never happened.

The album is set for release internationally Oct. 26 and in North America Oct. 27 to coincide with the worldwide release of the documentary, which arrives in theaters Oct. 28 and is to run for a limited two-week engagement.

“This Is It” likely won’t be the last new offering from the fallen pop icon.

“We probably have at least 100 songs in varying degrees of being finished,” Rob Stringer — chairman of the Columbia/Epic Label Group, a Sony division — told The New York Times. “And we think there probably is a lot more. We haven’t gone into the archive to search it properly yet. It’s just too complicated to do that.”

Michael Jackson died June 25, leaving behind three children — 12-year-old Prince Michael, 11-year-old Paris and 7-year-old Prince Michael II, called “Blanket.” The two older children were born during Jackson’s brief marriage to his former nurse Debbie Rowe. The mother of Jackson’s younger son has not been identified in the media.

Jackson asked his mother in his will to raise his three children if anything happened to him.

After several weeks of talks, E! News said a deal has been made which paves the way for Jackson’s mother, Katherine, to gain full custody of the children, in exchange for visitation rights for Rowe.

Katherine Jackson’s attorney, L. Londell McMillan, made the announcement Thursday morning on CBS’s “Early Show.”

“It’s an agreement … for the best interests of the children. This is not a money deal. There’s no situation better for these children than to be raised and reared under the care of Mrs. Jackson,” E! News quoted McMillan as saying.

“The discussions were amicable and cooperative, rather than a give and take negotiation,” a source told ABC News. “Both sides cooperated to reach agreement based solely on the best interest of the children.”

Lawyers for Katherine Jackson and Rowe intend to bring the agreement to Los Angeles Superior Court Monday where it is expected to be approved, ABC News said.

Dr. Conrad Murray, a doctor hired by the company that was producing a series of Jackson concerts, was at the Los Angeles home where Jackson was staying when he died June 25. Citing a source close to the Jackson family that it said had knowledge of the investigation, CNN reported authorities Murray administered the drug to Jackson before the singer died.

Law enforcement sources said Sunday paramedics found Jackson dead when they arrived at his home June 25. The sources said paramedics wanted to pronounce Jackson dead but Murray had him transported to a hospital, TMZ.com reported Sunday.

An autopsy indicated Jackson had the powerful drug Propofol in his system, E! News reported last week, although the official cause of death was still under investigation. The drug is administered intravenously and puts people in a near-comatose state.

The O2 is the venue where Michael’s comeback concerts were to have taken place, starting last week. The iconic pop star had been rehearsing for a planned 50-date solo residency there when he died June 25. The cause of his death is under investigation.

Beverly Hills, CA, May 15, 2009 — In an official statement issued today The Jacksons (Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Randy Jackson) have denied they were in any way involved with a proposed Jackson 5 reunion concert in Texas on July 3rd claimed this week by New Jersey concert promoters AllGood Entertainment.

The Jacksons have said they will support Michael in fighting any legal action brought by AllGood Entertainment with regard to the promoter’s claim about a July 3rd concert in Texas Stadium. O’Donovan said “There is absolutely no merit in this claim, and we had no knowledge of any contract with anyone, for a so-called family tour reunion. In fact, The Jacksons were never even approached about it and no offer was ever made to them.”

The global reaction to Michael Jackson’s death shows Michael’s contributions united the real people “aka the firefighters, teachers, shop keepers” of our world, across cultures, races, generations and countries in a way no government can ever hope to do.

The children – Prince Michael, 12; Paris Michael, 11; and Prince Michael II, 7 – will now stay with the Jackson family until a further hearing on August 3.

The hearing will take place at the Los Angeles Superior Court where Mrs Jackson filed guardianship papers.

Jackson’s mother is reportedly also taking legal steps to gain control of her son’s estate. The Jacksons’ lawyer said the family had not yet heard from Debbie Rowe, the mother of the two older children. The youngest was born to a surrogate mother.

The singer’s father Joe Jackson added that looking after the children was the family’s “first priority”.

A lawyer for the family, Londell McMillan has said that the family have not seen a copy of the star’s will.

Members of the family are expected to meet activist Reverend Al Sharpton at the family compound in Los Angeles today to finalise plans for a fitting memorial for Jackson.
