Stephanie Birkitt, the woman at the center of the David Letterman sex and blackmail scandal, is allegedly banned from New York City’s Ed Sullivan Theater.

Birkitt was an assistant to Letterman, the Late Show host, and later became his personal attorney.

A security worker on the show said: “Security got a verbal order that she is ‘banned’ from the property for the time being.”

However, Letterman’s production company, Worldwide Pants, denies the allegation & insists she is away from the set on leave.

“Stephanie is on paid leave of absence … she has not been banned from the Ed Sullivan Theater,” a statement said.

Robert Halderman – the ex-boyfriend of Stephanie Birkitt – found out about the pair’s secret relationship and then allegedly threatened to release the scandalous information unless Letterman forked over $2 million, Halderman was arrested for this crime but is free on bail.

Halderman claims Stephanie wrote all about her affair with Letterman in her private diary, says Halerman:

She also wrote Dave some “trashy” love letters that will embarrass them both if and when they become public.

Letterman has admitted having sex with more than one woman who worked for him on his late night talk show.

Letterman has made a public apology to his wife, Regina Lasko, who, he said, had been “horribly hurt.”

The comedian’s confession and apology, both featured on his show, have been ratings winners, with more viewers tuning in to his CBS program than anything on the rival NBC network.

The 5.7 million viewers who watched Letterman on Monday was more than double the audience for NBC’s “Tonight” show with Conan O’Brien.
