Rihanna opens up about Chris on ABC
Friday, November 6th, 2009Rihanna speaks out
Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009
People are buzzing about Rihanna’s interview with Good Morning America. Now, the singer has spoken on the subject she’s been silent. In the interview, Rihanna said that she isn’t the only one who could suffer from domestic violence.
“…This happened to me…it can happen to anyone,” she said, according to excerpts released by ABC.
Glamour is honoring Rihanna in their annual Women of the Year event at Carnegie Hall on November 9.
Rihanna opened up to Glamour Magazine about the Chris Brown incident, the photograph of her that evening and more….
“My friends and family have been extremely supportive, and everyone has been there for me. But at some point you are there alone. It’s a lonely place to be—no one can understand.
That’s when you get close to God,” she said.
On the photograph, she said she was humiliated.
“I went to sleep as Rihanna and woke up as Britney Spears. That was the level of media chaos that happened the next day.”
“It was humiliating; that is not a photo you would show to anybody. I felt completely taken advantage of. I felt like people were making it into a fun topic on the Internet, and it’s my life. I was disappointed, especially when I found out the photo was [supposedly leaked by] two women. ”
“I am stronger, wiser and more aware. You don’t realize how much your decisions affect people you don’t even know, like fans.”
She finally added a message to people struggling through domestic violence.
“Domestic violence is a big secret. No kid goes around and lets people know their parents fight. Teenage girls can’t tell their parents that their boyfriend beat them up. You don’t dare let your neighbor know that you fight.
It’s one of the things we [women] will hide, because it’s embarrassing. My story was broadcast all over the world for people to see, and they have followed every step of my recovery. The positive thing that has come out of my situation is that people can learn from that. I want to give as much insight as I can to young women, because I feel like I represent a voice that really isn’t heard. Now I can help speak for those women.”

“I’ve put everything I’ve wanted to say for the past eight months into my music. [My new album] is super fearless—which is exactly how I feel right now. I am in a really good place.”
Sources: Rihanna & Chris Brown at same hotel
Sunday, July 26th, 2009Chris Brown & Rihanna both staying at same New York hotel despite a restraining order keeping Brown from Rihanna, hotel sources say.
Unidentified hotel sources said both stars checked into the Trump International Hotel & Tower on the same day.
The sources said the two singers are staying in separate rooms since Friday’s check-in and have been transported to and from the site in separate chauffeured vehicles.
Brown, 20, has already pleaded guilty to one count of felony assault in relation to a Feb. 8 domestic altercation with Rihanna, 21, in Los Angeles.
The presiding judge in Brown’s assault case ordered the “Exclusive” singer to remain at least 50 yards away from Rihanna at all times unless they both attend a music industry event. At such events, the two singers must remain 10 yards apart.
Chris Brown issues new apology video
Monday, July 20th, 2009Chris Brown has kept mum for the most part regarding the incident with Rihanna back in February. His lawyer had advised him not to speak about the subject matter publicly, and Chris followed his orders.
In the video, he says, “I wish I had the opportunity to live those few moments again, but unfortunately I can’t. I cannot go into what happened, and most importantly I’m going to sit here and make any excuses.”
He continued, “I am very sad and very ashamed at what I’ve done. My mother and my spiritual teachers have taught me way better than that.”
Chris says in the video, “I have told Rihanna countless times and I’m telling you today that I am truly truly sorry and that I wasn’t able to handle the situation both differently and better.”
Chris Brown gets the T.I. deal, pleads guilty, no jail time, Rihanna does not testify
Monday, June 22nd, 2009Rihanna was expected to testify today in Los Angeles today to tell her story about the February 8th altercation with Chris Brown but she never took the stand.
Sounds like Brown got the T.I. deal.
Mark Geragos, who led Brown’s legal team, reached a plea bargain with the prosecution.
Brown avoids jail time by doing 180 days of community service in his home state of Virginia & attending a domestic violence counseling program.
In addition, Brown will receive five years supervised probation for the felony assault charge.
He previously pleaded not guilty to felony counts of assault and making criminal threats. At a press conference following the plea bargain, Rihanna’s attorney Donald Etra said Brown was faced with the choice of serving 180 days of community service or 180 days of prison time. If Brown violates his probation, he will receive up to four years in jail.
Rihanna doesn’t want a “stay-away” order for Brown
The judge planned to issue a “stay-away” order that will bar Chris Brown from contacting or coming near Rihanna until August, but Etra said his client didn’t want it.
The restraining order stands but the judge said the order will be reconsidered when Brown is formally sentenced in August. However, until then Rihanna and Brown are banned from contacting each other.
Brown must stay 50 yards away from Rihanna for 5 years, while the two are present at the same event the distance is reduced to 10 yards.
Rihanna was at the LA courthouse for the hearing and plea but she was never in the courtroom with Brown. Rihanna was prepared to testify and subsequently learned of the plea deal around 12:30 p.m. Pacific – court started about an hour earlier.
Brown’s legal team tried but failed to postpone today’s hearing & Rihanna’s testimony.
Rumors of a plea deal began to spread this morning after TMZ reported that Geragos and the Los Angeles DAs Office were hammering out an agreement.
Chris Brown’s plea deal is a plus for the L.A. county budget.
As we reported earlier, today’s hearing set off a fire storm of press credential requests. Press credential requests for Brown’s hearing were among the highest ever in L.A. County.
Trials and courtroom drama make interesting news & generate massive legals fees but the prosecution & the ensuing media circus can be costly.
Los Angeles County spent over $9.2 million in the 1994 OJ Simpson trial, a monthly average of $325,000. Los Angles County sought ways to diffuse the costs of the trial.
Elizabeth Smith of the L.A. Sheriff’s office noted:
“We feel that in [Los Angeles] County, we’re providing the state and the United States with such entertaining trials, we need to look at some creative ways to recoup some of those costs.”
L.A. County did eventually recoup some of the OJ trial cost by billing for media expenses related to the case, including $300,753 in rent on the parking lot occupied by “Camp O.J.”
Rihanna & Chris Brown in happier times – damn shame.
Rihanna & Chris claim top spot
Monday, June 22nd, 2009Unfortunately this top spot isn’t one anyone hopes to claim.
The fifty-two media outlets requesting permission to attend Monday’s preliminary hearing in the Chris Brown-Rihanna assault case is
one the highest number of press requests ever.
The number of reporters attempting to cover the case is higher than of those who turned out for Paris Hilton being sent back to jail for motor vehicle violations, Britney Spears’s divorce, the drunken driving cases of Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie, or the murder trials of Robert Blake or Phil Spector.
“I’ve never seen this kind of interest, and I’ve been here seven years,” court spokesman Allan Parachini told the Times.
Recording artist Brown, 20, has pleaded innocent to charges alleging he beat up and threatened his then-girlfriend, 21-year-old singer Rihanna, during a heated argument in his car last February.
A hearing was scheduled Monday to determine whether there is enough evidence to take the matter to trial.
“The way it broke — so fast and so big out of the gate — has a lot to do with (the public’s interest.) There was this big audience exposed to the story as it started,” E! executive news editor Ken Baker told the newspaper.
“At the heart of it is this intense romance between these two beautiful people that went bad in this very public way. It has this raw, sensational drama to it,” explained Baker, who said he plans to be in the courtroom for the proceeding.
Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg has ruled against allowing cameras in the courtroom for the hearing, for which Rihanna is said to be prepared to testify if called by prosecutors.
The Times said a closed-circuit broadcast has been set up in a nearby courtroom to accommodate the overflow of press and members of the public.

She has now been served with a subpoena to appear in a Los Angeles courtroom in 10 days time.
Rihanna’s lawyer Donald Etra has confirmed the beauty intends to fully co-operate.

“If the preliminary hearing indeed goes forward, she is now legally required to be there, she will be there and will answer all questions truthfully.”
