Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie is approved to own a share of the Miami Dolphins.
A big row came in the press after conservative talkshow commentator Rush Limbaugh was facing stiff resistence in buying a piece of the St Louis Rams, but regardless of how black players for the football team feel about Limbaugh, no one on the Miami Dolphins would object to seeing Fergie on the sidelines during any game.
Fergie’s sports ownership of the Florida football team is being shared with other famous celebs such as Emilio and Gloria Estefan, Margaretta Ville’s Jimmy Buffett, Marc Anthony, plus tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams.
Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross is only selling small portions of the NFL football team to various celebrities who he’s asked to make appearances at games to help boost the team’s image. Ross didn’t say if the appearances were priced into the sale or not.
Fergie, a California native, is currently on tour in Australia.
As part of the NFL’s Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, on Monday Estefan joined Hank Williams Jr. to sing a bilingual version of the Monday Night Football anthem, “Are You Ready for Some Football?” Which promises to bring a cross cultural approach of celebrities into the sports limelight as a means of broadening the sport’s fan appeal overall.
