Katy Perry Promises ‘Naked’ MTV Movie Awards Performance

Saturday, June 5th, 2010

Katy Perry is hoping MTV Movie Awards viewers enjoy her new single, “California Gurls,” as much as fiancé Russell Brand does. Not only will she have Snoop Dogg onstage with her, but she also has plans to hit the stage nude.

That’s right, folks: no clothes!

“I think that this performance will be really Californian,” she told MTV News about Sunday’s big performance. “I will be naked,” she joked. “There will be tons of naked girls. Listen: You gotta tune in, because yours truly, Katy Perry, will be naked. That’s the only reason to watch.”

Plus, fans will get a taste of what’s to come from the “California Gurls” video, when an exclusive sneak peek debuts in the pre-show, which will be co-hosted by “Jersey Shore” star Snooki.

“It’s definitely something to watch when you have the munchies,” she said. ” ‘Cause it’s all edible.”

While Perry is known for her outlandish red-carpet looks, it’s still unknown what the pop star will wear to the big show. But she does already have her date all lined up in show presenter and “Get Him to the Greek” star Brand. “We’re both going to be at the Movie Awards. Katy’s going to be performing her new, brilliant single, ‘California Gurls,’ ” Brand said. It’s going to be] me standing awkwardly with ‘Greek’ co-stars Jonah Hill and Puff Daddy.”

Diddy to star in new MTV reality series – UPI.com

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

MTV announced Sean “Diddy” Combs is set to star in the new reality series “Making His Band.”

The show is to premiere Monday.

“Marking a new twist, viewers will witness a personal side of Diddy as he launches a nationwide search for the musicians to back him up on tour for his new album ‘Last Train to Paris,’ his most ambitious project yet,” the network said in a news release.

“Throughout four cycles of ‘Making the Band,’ viewers have seen Diddy as a tough critic whose hard work and high expectations created successful groups ranging from hip-hop to pop to R&B.

Now Diddy turns that tough criticism on himself, as well as on the musicians trying to make his band. Covering choreography, songwriting and production, Diddy will call upon five judges to mentor the contestants and help select the members of his back-up band.”

The artists selected will live together in Los Angeles as they vie for a spot to join Diddy on tour.

The judges are choreographer Laurie Ann Gibson, vocal coach Romeo Johnson, producer-composer-lyricist Om’Mas Keith, producer-songwriter Rob Lewis and musician Nisan Stewart.
