Jennifer Lawrence talks about getting painted naked for X-Men First Class

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

Jennifer Lawrence has learned not to be self-conscious in makeup. Having seven women painting your naked body over and over for months will do that to you.

“Nothing’s sacred anymore,” says Lawrence, 20, the breakout star of the indie Winter’s Bone, tells the Hollywood Reporter of her marathon makeup sessions for X-Men: First Class, in which she plays the blue-bodied mutant Mystique.

“Those girls and I got so close,” she says of her makeup team. “They were painting me naked every day for months. It was kind of like going to a really bizarre sleepover.”

She adds, jokingly: “It’s what you guys imagine we do: one naked girl and seven pairs of hands all over her.”

Having those women “all up in [my] business,” as she puts it, wasn’t the only challenge in shooting the X-Men prequel. Lawrence had to work out for two hours a day and stick to a strict diet – which was tough for the Louisville native.

“It was awful. I was hungry for five months. I’m still pissed about it,” says the actress, who returned to Kentucky and some down-home cooking when she finished shooting.

Angelina Jolie’s new movie “Salt” premiered in Hollywood Monday night

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

Angelina Jolie’s new movie “Salt” premiered in Hollywood Monday night. The star spent more time with the fans than with the press, but she did stop to talk to Eyewitness News.

When Angelina Jolie arrived with Brad Pitt for the premiere of her new movie, the cameras turned from the carpet to the street to watch fans enjoy meeting two of the biggest stars in the world strolling down Hollywood Boulevard.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt appeared together to support her new movie, “Salt.”

Brad quickly snuck inside, telling me, “Sorry, George. I’m off tonight.”

That’s because this is Angelina’s movie.

“Salt” is an adrenaline-filled action movie with Angelina’s character, Evelyn Salt, working for the CIA. When she’s accused of being a Russian spy, things get really wild.

Angelina proudly did her own stunts for this movie.

“Just a lot of hand-to-hand combat, but the jumping stuff, which was a lot of that, you just have to jump,” said Angelina.

Asked how she made it through dangerous, high-rise apartment stunts, Angelina replied, “Fortunately, I’m not afraid of heights, so I like it. I actually do like it. I’m a little odd that way.”

“We want to do our own stunts. But some people are very talented to do their own stunts — Angie’s one of them,” said actor Jon Voight, Angelina’s father. “But for a father, it’s not easy to watch some of the stuff.”

“Salt” is fast-paced, and keeps you guessing every step of the way.

“I like that, too. It was amazing,” said “Salt” co-star Liev Schreiber. “It is just non-stop. It comes at you from every angle.”

When the movie ends, you realize there’s an opportunity for a “Salt” sequel.

“We’ve all spoken about maybe a sequel,” said director Phillip Noyce. “But it’s up to those guys out there to vote at the box office.”

“Salt” opens Friday. It’s rated PG-13.

Ryan Reynolds is set to star as the Green Lantern and his alter-ego Hal Jordan in a movie by the same name

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

Ryan Reynolds is set to star as the Green Lantern and his alter-ego Hal Jordan in a movie by the same name that is set for release on June 17, 2011 and a sequel is already in the works as well.

One scene in the film involves him being hurled through the air at 60 feet per second to create the illusion of flight, according to Entertainment Weekly, which features the 34-year-old Canadian actor in his superhero costume on its latest cover.

“The first time you do it, you’re seriously considering an adult diaper,” Reynolds told the magazine.

“Will and imagination are his superpowers. We need a circus of Timothy Learys to think of things Hal would invent with his ring,” he said of the DC Comics character, referencing the iconic 1960s writer and advocate of psychedelic drug research who died in 1996.

The Green Lantern also stars Blake Lively, who plays Serena on the hit CW series Gossip Girl, as Jordan’s love interest Carol Ferris as well as Peter Sarsgaard, who plays his enemy Hector Hammond. The director is Martin Campbell, who directed the 2010 Mel Gibson film Edge of Darkness, the James Bond movie Casino Royale in 2006 and the 1998 film The Mask of Zorro and its 2003 sequel.

Michael Goldenberg, Brothers & Sisters writer and producer Greg Berlanti, Michael Green and Marc Guggenheim penned the screenplay for The Green Lantern, while the latter three have also been tapped to write The Green Lantern 2, which is in development and has not been given a release date.

Reynolds recently suffered a minor injury while training for the film off its sets and has since been back to work and production was not affected, Entertainment Weekly said. Reynolds was cast as the Green Lantern last year after beating out Bradley Cooper and Jared Leto, who went through two rounds of screen tests, according to Us Weekly magazine.

Reynolds played Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool, in the film X-Men Origins: Wolverine alongside Hugh Jackman in 2009 and the title character in the 2002 comedy film Van Wilder, which starred Tara Reid. He also starred in the sitcom Two Guys and a Girl from 1998 to 2001.

The actor, who married actress Scarlet Johansson in Canada in 2008, began his career on Canadian television, starring in shows such as the teen soap opera Hillside, also called Fifteen, in 1990 and the sci-fi teen series The Odyssey.

Captain America Cast? Iconic hero offered to Chris Evans. But will he accept?

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog is reporting that Marvel has officially offered the role of Captain America to none other than Chris Evans. This concludes months of speculation regarding who would take up the shield as name after name circulated about town – some familiar (John Krasinski, Channing Tatum, Ryan Phillipe) and others entirely unknown (Scott Porter, Wilson Blethel, Mike Vogel). The article is careful to mention, however, that Evans, who audiences will next see in both The Losers and Scott Pilgrim, has not yet accepted the role.

Why the hell wouldn’t one immediately accept an offer to play the most famous American in all of fanboy history? It might, we suspect, have something to do with the nine-picture commitment that comes with the role – including three Cap films, The Avengers, and a limited number of appearances in any further Marvel adventures. That’s a helluva way to become indebted to a studio that’ll seemingly own you for the better part of a decade.

That said, Evans might very well want to rinse away the stigma of the ill-received Fantastic Four with a much more promising turn in a far more successful lineage of films. With enough charisma and talent to make the character his own, there’s certainly no reason to expect that Evans wouldn’t make an ideal Captain America. Now let’s just see if he says yes.
