Hailed as the comeback gig to put Amy Winehouse back on the map as one of the best voices in the business – it all went horribly wrong.

Decked out in tight blue mini dress and the infamous beehive, she smiled and waved while entering the stage but within seconds it was obvious that all was not right.

Her erratic behavior seemed to be getting stranger and stranger as the 45 minute set went on. Stumbling and forgetting words, she looked confused, relying heavily on her band, especially backing singer Zalon who had to single handily guide her to keep the show going.

Taking her shoes on and off constantly, bizarrely opening a pack of chewing gum on stage and then spitting it out at the crowd and flashing her knickers throughout, it was shocking viewing for the two thousand plus crowd.

The heavens soon opened up at the outdoor event to make matter’s worse ironically just as Amy began ‘Tears Dry On Their Own’ and it was not long before the stage was plunged into darkness causing Amy to walk off stage too a chorus of boos.

She soon returned sucking her thumb, hiding behind her backing singer who had to coax her back into performing.

One of the St Lucia residents at this point turned and asked “Is she OK? why do they allow her to perform like this”

It was a thought that seemed to be running through everybody’s mind especially as she sat on the floor staring into space looking close to tears.

The night ended as Amy walked off the stage angrily midway through ‘Valerie’ leaving her poor band to keep going on without her to a series of boos and ‘We want Amy’ chants. ‘Rehab’ was missed out and it was clear that that was the only place Amy should have been.

Her PR team tried to blame the poor performance on rain and technical difficulties, stating that “Amy would like to express her disappointment that weather forced the abandonment of her show at the St. Lucia Jazz Festival last night. The set started well, but as the heavens opened, a number technical difficulties occurred on stage, culminating with the lighting rig failing for two songs.

“In addition, rain began to flood the technical wings at the side of the stage which caused sound problems. Amy and the band tried to soldier on but the set had to be cut short.

“Amy is very disappointed as St Lucia has been wonderful to her and its people have welcomed her with open arms, but circumstances beyond anyone’s control meant that this special show did not go as planned.”
